Working House Fire With Volunteer Hose Company

Thursday, December 31, 2015

On the morning of July 5th, at 0108 hours, the Townsend Fire Company (Station 26) was dispatched to assist the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown (Station 1/27) with an L3* Residential Fire. Engine 262 made the response with a crew of 4 personnel. While units were responding, the dispatch center (Fireboard) upgraded the response to a working alarm. Units arrived to find a detached single family dwelling with heavy fire throughout. Rescue 27 Officer (18C) took Command and ordered an exterior attack only due to the heavy fire conditions present. Engine 262 arrived and staged a block away. Command ordered Engine 262’s crew to protect B Exposure. Engine 262’s crew pulled 2 hand lines from Rescue 27, placing 1 in service on B Exposure and the other on the fire, on the ‘B’ side of the fire structure. 262 Officer, with a 2 man crew from Odessa (Station 4/24), entered the B Exposure to search for smoke, fire and occupants. Once a bulk of the fire was knocked down, Command ordered the B Exposure line pulled to the rear of the fire structure to assist with extinguishment. TFC personnel worked on scene until extinguishment was complete and cleared after assisting Volunteer Hose in taking up, at 0352 hours.
